Krav Maga
Krav Maga is a practical and instinctive self-defense system developed to work for everyone—regardless of age, fitness level, or experience. Designed for real-life situations, it builds on your natural instincts to help you respond effectively under stress and defend against a wide range of threats. You’ll gain the skills to protect yourself and others, increase your situational awareness, and develop the reflexes needed to act quickly and confidently in any scenario.
“Part of the Krav Maga philosophy is that the best way to win a fight is not to get into a fight.”
— Wall Street Journal.
Krav Maga isn’t about sport, competition, or tradition—it’s about real-world self-defense. We train to avoid conflict when possible, de-escalate when necessary, and, when there’s no other choice, to neutralize threats with maximum efficiency.
There are no fancy uniforms, no rituals, and no rules in a real-world fight. Krav Maga prepares you to survive worst-case scenarios under high stress using the most effective techniques available. As founder Imi Lichtenfeld said, we train “so that one may walk in peace.”
Krav Maga is built for beginners. Your training starts with the fundamentals: basic stances, striking, safe falling and recovery, and defenses against common attacks like chokes and headlocks. You’ll also develop the mental tools to manage fear and stress while staying alert and in control. As you progress, you’ll learn how to handle more complex situations—including multiple attackers, weapons, and ground defense—while continuing to build your physical and mental resilience.
We understand that joining a live class can feel intense—but that’s part of the training. Self-defense is about staying composed in unpredictable, high-stress situations. We prepare you for that reality. All ages, all body types, and all experience levels are welcome. Everyone can benefit from learning to protect themselves.
Jeet Kune Do
Jeet Kune Do (JKD) is a martial arts philosophy and practice founded by Bruce Lee, emphasizing practicality, adaptability, and self-expression over fixed styles. It functions by integrating effective techniques from various martial arts, like Wing Chun, boxing, and fencing, into a fluid system focused on efficient, simple, and direct actions. JKD's core principle is the "Way of the Intercepting Fist," which involves counterattacking an opponent to impede their offense.
Key Principles & Concepts : • Philosophy over Style: Lee believed that martial arts styles had become too rigid and unrealistic, and JKD is a philosophy of self-expression and fighting as a tool for living. • Simplicity, Directness, and Freedom: These guiding principles aim to create a fighting approach that is uncluttered and adapts to any situation, rather than being bound by complex, predefined movements. • Interception (The Intercepting Fist): The core idea is to attack the opponent in the process of attacking, effectively "intercepting" their offense. • Adaptability: JKD is a "style without style" that allows practitioners to be like water—fluid and formless—to effectively handle the unpredictable nature of combat. JKD incorporates techniques from four ranges of engagement: kicking, punching, hand trapping, and joint locking/grappling. • Efficient Movements: Techniques are selected for their practicality and economy, eliminating wasted motions to ensure maximum effectiveness. • Foundation: The system builds upon fundamental training methods, including a ready stance for balance and free movement, and emphasizes the use of the lead hand and foot for straight, direct attacks. • Tools for Different Situations: JKD provides practitioners with a diverse set of "tools" (techniques) to be used appropriately for different situations.

Testimonials
This is the best school, period. From Krav to overall total fitness you can't find better. Not to mention David is by the far the most knowledgeable instructor I've ever met.

I take both adult JKD and Krav Maga and have been here for 2 years now. Aside from the high level of expertise that Sifu David Walker has and his teaching techniques, it is really become the place I go to to escape the world. Everyone is so nice, welcoming and eager to help. It truly is a family.
Many years ago I taught a kickboxing class at a YMCA. Really thought I was prepared for facing the real world and what comes with it. I was not. Plain and simple. In regards to being safe, realistic self defense, being confident, understanding the basis of why techniques are taught and burned into your muscle memory...this place is top notch.
For some of us here, EDS is our therapy. A place to forget our lives, train with great people, release stress and go back into our lives with a refreshed outlook. Plus it's a great workout. 🙂

I love it! Plain and simple. It's my home away from everything. These people have become like family. I've been training here for 2 years. I've lost weight and have gained mobility and confidence. David Walker is a great instructor, very knowledgeable. Don't worry if "you don't know any of the moves". We were all new once. All the students are awesome and we like to learn through helping each other. Come check it out. It's pretty cool.
